How to Reuse and Recycle Your Moving Boxes

Macho Movers • November 3, 2022

For most people, moving requires a lot of boxes. The more you have to move, the more boxes you end up needing. And that’s fine, since using strong moving boxes makes the process of taking your stuff to a new home much easier.

But what do you do once the move is over? If you’re looking for some information on where to recycle moving boxes or some ideas for what you can do with these boxes once you’re done moving, here are some tips.

Turn Them into Home Storage Bins

Every home needs storage. If you’re looking for items you can reuse after a move, consider using the boxes in your basement, attic, garage, or just about anywhere else where you could use some extra storage.

They’re great for storing seasonal items (like Halloween decorations, holiday lights, summer toys, etc.), and you can use them to keep dishes safe when you’re not using them. They can also come in handy for storing magazines, paperwork, or just about anything else.

Convert Them into Playhouses for Kids

Kids love boxes. Younger kids will have a great time playing with a box or two on their own. Even older kids will get a kick out of a playhouse made from boxes. Stack smaller boxes on top of one another to create towers, put them down on the floor and create an obstacle course or series of tunnels, or use a larger box (or two – or more!) to create an epic playhouse. Your creativity is only limited to what can you reuse and how you can reuse it.

You can even paint the boxes, and give them added details like windows, doors, fences, and much more. This can be a great project to do with your kids on a rainy day inside. Let them decorate the playhouse themselves, unleashing their creative side and giving them the experience of having a space that’s entirely theirs.

Have a lot of boxes? Use them for craft projects. Cut them up and use them as plates for a pretend restaurant, cars for your kids’ stuffed animals, or the board for your next homemade board game! There are so many things you can do with boxes!

Donate Them to People Who are Moving

As mentioned, most people need a lot of boxes when they move. If you have boxes that you no longer need, consider donating them to friends or family members who may need them. You may also want to consider putting them up for free on an online marketplace in your area. Depending on where you live, there’s a good chance that a lot of people will jump at the opportunity to get some reused or recycled moving boxes for free.

It's just one less thing that they’ll need to take care of when moving! The process of moving can be pretty complicated and sometimes overwhelming, so most people will likely take all the help they can get.

The good news is that moving doesn’t have to be stressful and annoying. When you work with Macho Movers , you’re working with a trusted team that will help you get into your new space safely, efficiently, and without hassle.
